To Do List–Strawberry Festival

1.  Find a Parking Place You Can Remember–Parking at a Strawberry Festival is in a field.  There are no lane numbers.  You must remember a nearby landmark, such as, the oak tree next to the really muddy spot.

2.  Buy Lots of Ride Tickets–Even though you always tell your children ahead of time that when the tickets run out there will be no more rides.  Save yourself time and a long walk, just go ahead and buy the extra tickets in the beginning.

3.  Wear OLD Shoes–You are on a real farm.  Strawberry fields on real farms do not have nice garden paths.  You will be tromping through dirt and muddy patches.

4.  Wear Comfortable OLD Clothes–Once again, you are on a real farm.  The strawberries are not arranged neatly in cute little baskets on nice clean shelves.  Strawberry plants are very short, so, while you are tromping through the dirt and muddy patches you will also be constantly bending over to pick the berries.

5.  Funnel Cakes–After your adventure in the fields you will definitely need a funnel cake covered in powdered sugar to get your energy back.  It’s okay because you will be eating the strawberries with it so you can tell yourself that they are healthy so the meal is okay.

6.  Carnival Rides–Remember the tickets you bought?  After eating the strawberries, funnel cakes, powdered sugar, and soda, your children will immediately want to ride all the rides that spin and bounce.  (Be glad you remembered to put #4 on the list!)

7.  Bring A Camera–You would not want to forget any of the great times.

Look What I Found…

Anyone that is a parent to either a two-legged or four-legged little darlin will completely understand this list.  For those that aren’t, let me explain.  As you go about cleaning the house, or sometimes just walking from one room to another, you come across something that makes you stop and think–This is not really happening, I’m just imagining it!  The mysterious part is that NO ONE ever knows how it happened.

Here’s a list of my recent “finds”:

1.  Living room covered in what looked like tiny bird seeds. Everywhere!  Tables, chairs, bookcases, and rug.  (We don’t have birds and our outside feeders haven’t had any seeds in two years.)

2.  Fresh from the washer lace tablecloth with an abstract orange design all over it. (It was solid white when I put it on the table.)

3.  Couch cushion missing a corner.

4.  Two bowls containing unidentifiable matter under my son’s bed.

5.  Paw prints on my bedspread.

6.  Neighbor’s wet kitten wrapped in good bath towel. (Of course, we wouldn’t want it to catch a cold)

7.  Dog collar and leash on front porch–no sign of dog. (Dog appeared an hour later, soaking wet and tired, so naturally needed an immediate nap on the couch)

8.  Large hole in the side of the cat food bag. (Apparently, it tastes better when eaten straight out of the bag instead of the food bowl.)

9.  Trail of cat food across kitchen floor. (In case they get lost on the way back to the bag)

Thursday Thirteen

Since I’m starting this post so late I only have about 20 minutes for this to still be considered as a Thursday post.  One of my favorite things to do is to go thrifting.  We have a Goodwill Store VERY close to my house.  (I’m still not sure if it being so close is a good thing or not.)  Anyway, I decided that I will list the last thirteen great “treasures” I found.

2.  7 beautiful vintage pillowcases–$.99 each

3.  Handmade patchwork quilt (full-size)–$7.00

4.  Pink and white miniature tea set–$2.99

5.  White stoneware pitcher–$2.99

6.  Baby gate to keep hyperactive dog in the kitchen when visitors arrive–$5.00

7.  Duvet cover–$6.00

8.  Large ccokie jar for my collection–$4.99

9.  2 yards of drapery fabric–$1.98

10.  Wool sweater for felting project–$3.49

Look on the bright side…

I haven’t posted a list in quite a while because things have been pretty tough around our house lately.  Staples has an EASY button, but sometimes I just need a PAUSE button.  Since I don’t have one, I do the next best thing.  I read other people’s blogs.  It must have been fate because the first one I read talked about not being negative all the time and finding 10 things to be thankful for.  Naturally I had no choice but to come here and post my 10 (it’s that karma thing).  So here goes…on second thought, hang on it may take awhile…..

1.  The weather today was beautiful–sunny, but not too hot.

2.  Did not have to use the air conditioning–saved money.

3.  Our dog did not chew up ANY furniture today.

4.  I cleaned out my bedroom closet–the bag for Goodwill even made it all the way to the car.  This one is so big that it should probably count as at least 2 good things.

5.  I moved furniture today and did not break anything.

6.  My children are healthy–24 hours with no blood loss or broken bones.  If you knew how active my children are, especially Sweetie #2, you would wonder why this wasn’t listed in the #1 spot.

7.  I’m healthy!

8.  Everything is working today–car, computer, kitchen appliances, etc.  I hope I’m not tempting fate by listing this one.

9.  Tomorrow’s Monday and it’s a school day.  Don’t get me wrong.  I love spending time with my children, but sometimes I really need a school day.

10.  I’m tempted to list this one as “I’m thankful for making it to #10″, but that would be cheating.  So the #10 spot goes to ….. Today was a good day.   (Considering life at our house lately, this is a biggie.)
